My grandfather once said (okay, not once but like a milion times) that if you pay cheap, you get cheap. If you pay less than $30 a day for a hotel room, don’t expect anything more than a bed. Don’t even think you’d get a newspaper to go with your morning coffee. Hell, you’d be an idiot if you expect to get free airport transfers, an overfawning concierge and impeccable room service. And for a dive that charges even lower, the most exciting thing you’ll ever get is a view of a vivid yellow “Police Line do Not Cross” tape draped across the next room.
Cheap is for those who just want to get it over and done with, he said.
“True that,” said Cletus after hearing my grandfather’s lecture for the thousandth time during one dinner. “So if I pay a woman – let’s say – $20, I shouldn’t expect anything more than a blow–”
I swiftly kicked him under the table.
Speaking about cheap and getting it over and done with, I’m ending this review right here, right now. To cut to the chase, MMOVirtex delivered my gold all right…
…but beyond the 24-hour mark PLUS I got it in the mail, which ain’t exactly what super agent Fiona promised me. (“You will receive your order face to face once you place an order with us”). I was online for a good eleven STRAIGHT hours doing my dungeon runs, kicking ass in Wintergrasp, and playing the AH (WTS my overpriced sh*t, you gullible people PST me offer). After eleven hours (my eyes! my eyes!), I rested a bit to shower, eat, call my hysterical mother (‘Yes, Mom, I’m still alive!”) and help GF wrap a few more presents. Then I resumed my gaming. No one whispered except for that slut S-u-s-a-n E-x-p-r-e-s-s. I had hoped someone from MMOVirtex would call. But nothing, nada, zip. I got tired and switched toons.
Eventually my YM popped an alert for new email — MMOVirtex has completed my order by sending it via mail.
Hmm, guess their level 1 delivery toons are too busy enjoying The Feast of Winterveil to bother with deliveries?
My verdict: I paid cheap, I got cheap. Yeah I know — bottom line is that I got the gold, end of story, I should be happy right?
Eh, it could be better. Delivery could have been faster. Delivery could have been more convenient (and less nerve-wracking) if the gold was given to me face to face. And customer support could have been a little more sincere and less trigger-happy with macros.
So to borrow a bit of Cletus’ cheekiness for a quick analogy, if MMOVirtex were some one-night stand babe and they asked me, “Was it as good for you as it was for me?”, I’d say, “Babe, I’ve had better but you know what they say, practice makes perfect and you need a LOT of practice.”
