Thanks to my guild head honcho Alvin for sending me this screenshot. Poor dude and our fellow Hordies had a helluva time in AV (Horde won though), then on top of that nearly everyone got the same whisper about the "mysterious gift" which they all, er, mysteriously won.



You just gotta hand it to the thieving pricks for coming up with every possible permutation of the Blizzard and World of Warcraft names for their dubious fly-by-night websites. Now this time they’ve added the WoW Armory for good measure.

Incorrigible bastards just won’t stop.

And I bet they’ll become even more aggressive as Christmas nears. They’ve got to fill their holiday orders fast — and one way to do that is to steal other players’ gold to meet the demand.

Impeccable customer service that can deal with (my) idiotic questions. Considerate delivery people (Inside an instance? We won’t bother you then!) . No spam.  Delivery could have been faster but still fell within the ETA — enough to squeeze past the long-time bronze medalist.

Yeah, in other words, Epic Toon (or ET), you get the bronze.

I just have one comment:

You mailed the gold to me because you didn’t want to disturb my dungeon run. That’s really considerate of you. But I had such a HUGE order that dumping all of it in the mail was kinda risky — the gold could have been deleted. I can’t speak for all customers out there - maybe some of them wouldn’t have minded leaving the instance to pick up their order face-to-face, others might get pissed if they get a whisper in the middle of downing the boss - but maybe you could take the risk of whispering first to ask how soon they can meet your courier? And if they really can’t abandon their party, then well, ask the customer when he’ll be available next. You don’t have to resort to mailing it right away (unless of course the customer said, just mail it to me).

Yeah I know it’s kinda hard contacting the customer not really knowing if it’s a good time or not to send a tell his way…

But I guess gold buyers themselves should expect — and NOT get pissed when they receive — a whisper any time in the game, regardless of the situation they are in. You order gold, getting a whisper comes with the turf. So sometimes the whisper comes at a bad time, like when you’re handling many whelps or something. Don’t freak out. Delivery guy’s just doing his job.

Okay this is becoming a long sermon you don’t need.

10 hours. 11 hours. 12 hours. 13 hours.Three dungeon runs. A nap. Two phone calls. GF suddenly had a hankering for roast beef sandwich with all the sinful drippings. Ran to the nearest deli. Mistakenly bought something else. Got chewed out for it. Women…

Fell asleep again. Must be switching from insomnia to narcolepsy. Why can’t I ever strike a balance, for f*ck’s sake?

Still no gold. I’m not panicking because I didn’t pay for this order. Though I AM starting to wonder what’s taking them so long.

I relogged. Toon in DaLAGran. Need to get away from that place. Ran through the Orgrimmar portal. In lag-less Org, I waited for a whisper.

Met up with Cletus. Joined a PUG. Some kids needed help with Drak’Tharon Keep.

While in DTK (a rather long-ass run since one of the kids kept dying), I got a whisper I wasn’t exactly waiting for:

Die thieves die! Damn it, why don’t you people just DIE????

Done with DTK, I noticed that I had new mail from someone I didn’t recognize.

What the…

It was the gold I ordered.

Given the one-hour delay in sending mail from one account to another, why didn’t they just whisper and give it to me face to face?

Now I really don’t play HKO and you guys know that. But I wonder if it DOES have PvP. That’d be one helluva catfight.

You kids remember that anti-spam newsletter that came out sometime in August? The one called Cleaning Up The Industry ? That newsletter spawned copycats left, right, front, back and center — all coming from the circle of  notorious gold sellers who they themselves are the Grand Master Spammers in the game and definitely NOT in the list of trusted gold-selling sites in the original newsletter.

Speaking about said list, the latest gold seller under the microscope is Epictoon.com. Most of the sites in the list like Mogs.com , IGE.com , and Gamemasta.com "went through the WGF wringer" (as Remus calls it) and did pretty well. I figured it’s time to check out this site and see if they can cut the mustard.

First, their claim to be anti-spam….

I’m on several realms and so far I haven’t seen a single message on Trade chat or received a single whisper from Epictoon. None of my friends have received spam in any form from them either, so I guess they pass that first scrutiny.

Now on to the home page…

I like how you can just order right off the bat on the home page and go to Checkout. It’s like what I always say: I don’t like too many bells and whistles on a site and I just want a quick, painless buying process without having to go through several pages.

Thanks again, Cletus my man, for giving me an Aion account. Just don’t know if I can afford to maintain this one, given how yours truly is already paying for 4 WoW subs.

Anyhoo, so check out the game I did. I rolled a pretty little Scout…pretty in an anime sort of way. I make her kill a few funny-looking creatures terrorizing some farm. They looked like pissed-off stunted armadillos. I’m distracted by my toon’s skirt that lifts at the hem when she jumps. Feminists would have a fit. A vicious killing machine in a Lolita-type skirt smacks of the sexist era of James Bond (and if Bond was a pedophile, that is). Hot-blooded men would appreciate the eye candy that this game is but I’m suddenly yearning for the hot, dusty and barbaric ambiance of the Valley of Trials.

So I’m biased. Shoot me.

My Scout ends up in some little town where she chats up some NPCs, then suddenly…



In-game spam. F*cking classic!

First 30 minutes of the game and I’m already irritated.

Cletus laughed. ‘Dude, it gets worse the longer you play."

"Does anyone fall for this crap?" I said.

"You mean the spam? I dunno. Hope not. You wanna start an Aion Kinah Facts review site?" He snickered.

Not funny. No time. No way. Not enough money.

Regarding 17mins dot com’s guild banks getting raided by Blizz…

What indiscretion did 17mins commit that alerted Blizzard to their activities???

So much for their being "one of the three largest secure network of buying and selling sites for massively multiplayer online game (MMOG) virtual currency and assets on the Internet" .  (I got that from their About Us page)

Oh BTW, my friends and I checked out random gold sellers and THEY DENIED any raiding done by Blizz on their own guild banks. In fact, one of them accused Remus of starting a bad rumor to scare all buyers. (How do you say, "industry-wide raid, my ass!" in Chinese?)

Man, they would have made a nice new review but…

How can I review someone who probably doesn’t have any more gold to sell?

Ah well, I’ll find someone else to review.

Read it and weep, kids. This should knock some sense into those who blindly agree to temporarily join a gold seller’s guild so they themselves can withdraw the money from the guild bank instead of transacting in the traditional face-to-face manner. Those gold sellers’ guilds/banks are in serious trouble these days and you wouldn’t want Blizz to see YOUR TOON’S NAME on the seller’s guild roster!

Three emails sent and still no reply. I changed my PayPal password. I checked the balance. Like every 5 effing minutes to see if anything had been siphoned without my knowledge. Tlktck’s warning about Spyware in MrWoWGold’s website still has me on edge. He’s pretty confident about his claim. I’m not so confident anymore about the security of my PayPal account.

One more email. Maybe they’ll start feeling sorry for me and send a reply.

So I sent them another email, then tried my luck with the Live Chat banner, and lo and behold I got hold of an agent. And it’s Carol again! It’s my lucky night!
