PLAYERAUCTIONS A NEW SITE? PUH-LEEZ Plus There’s More Bull Here Than In That Annual Run In Pamplona

Good morning, kiddies! And good morning to reader Roshan who sent me that link in her comment . I nearly spat out a projectile of my Blue Mountain blend when I read that poorly-disguised press release for PlayerAuctions, a site where MMORPG players can sell their virtual goods to the highest bidder.

Their tag line says Play. Trade. Dominate .

Anyone who’s been victimized by PlayerAuctions knows their tag line should read We Love Suckers…Especially Their Money.

The amount of BS in the article is mind-boggling (not the pro-RMT stand, which I strongly agree with). Take for instance that line about how PA is a new site. Puh-leez, that company has been around for many years! And within the last few years I’ve had friends and friends of friends who lost money (both real and virtual) and all their accounts from transacting with this sham/scam of a site. So quit saying you’re a new site, PA. Why can’t they just say RELAUNCH? Or THE RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD?

Also, that bit about their secure new process that ensures safe transactions for all - big deal! There are sites out there that have been offering COMPLETE customer security since RMT’s infancy. PA is NOT ONE IOTA MORE SECURE, not to mention the auction process is a lot more hassle. A quick check of each gold-selling site’s prices will do the trick if one wants the lowest price available. Or if you want to know where the best deal is (read: where you won’t get scammed), just visit my blogsite . Hehe.

Lastly, they’re saying that conducting RMT at PA is a way to stamp out in-game spam. Oh-kaaaay, tell me something new, amigo. It’s really no different than what one gets by shopping at other sites (like everybody’s fave whipping boy IGE.com) that have been posting their anti-spam policies on their landing pages since time immemorial. Ya know what I mean, buddy boy. So please be a little more original and drop the BS. Come on, if I wanted a lot of bull, I’d just make a quick trip to Pamplona.

PlayerAuctions victims, what say you?

To end this on a humorous note, let me quote a comment on that PA article made by a certain Jbravodude:

"The people who prefer to buy their way to the upper levels are pitiful in the least."

Dude, here’s my snappy comeback: The people who have time to grind their way to the highest levels are unemployed.

I used to hate playerauctions too. In fact, I lost money, my friends lost money.. but we also made money because everybody used PlayerAuctions. Eventually we learned how to be safe from scammers. It all starts with a simple phone call, although that IS a hassle.

Hassles aside, it was a way to make money doing something I loved. I made gold and sold it. I made more money playing games than my friends did at real jobs. Unfortunately, PlayerAuctions had poor support by the name of Dawn and Steve. I hated them so much I started free auctions at my own website.

Let’s imagine for a moment that you’re an industry bigwig. You see PlayerAuctions for sale, a website which has a bad reputation because it was poorly managed, but also has a wide user base that is just waiting for someone to come in, fire the old management, hire decent coders, add banking level verification, and make it actually secure.

    What would you do differently?

Not a thing, man. There’s money to be made in offering players true security, especially for player to player trade because any site that has ever offered player to player trade has had an epic failure.

I take it you probably used to be a power seller or something. Me too, I was up on the leader board as one of the top fifteen. Even though I posted some hate about PlayerAuctions on my website, something interesting happened. My Chinese business partner paid the site a visit and noticed it was in Chinese instead of English. This was about six months ago. So we did a forum story. That was interesting. There hadn’t been development in years but now language selection was automatic, and the site was going international.

To our surprise, the Managing Director paid the forums a visit and wrote a really long response about what was going on. It wasn’t Dawn and Steve, it was someone new. This new guy said that new things were coming, and good security.

Original thread where the head honcho speaks at grassroots, ground level. (Who does that in this industry?)

I was a little skeptical, so I’ve just been sitting back and watching. Take a look at their help section, they beat me to the punch and did what I’ve been screaming about for years. REAL security for virtual goods.

I want to buy your gold, but you’re a scammer. no problem. PlayerAuctions holds the money until we both confirm delivery. Either you deliver and be honest, or you don’t get paid. You also risk getting negative feedback. You can’t hide in their environment.

What’s more, when you make your offer, you give yourself a delivery guarantee. “I will deliver in 24 hours or less” - if you fail to deliver on time, I get a hassle free refund. You can’t say that about other sites.

I want to sell something, but you’re a scamming buyer. No problem. PlayerAuctions verifies you with real security, then pays me. You can’t pay me directly and then scam me. PlayerAuctions pays me. Say you do a chargeback… that was your last. You can’t pass banking level security twice to get back in to their system.

I’m pretty happy, the head honcho let me back into the system. He knew Dawn and Steve were a bit loony. Now I’m making money using the new site and it’s freaking awesome! Big jump in extra sales for my business. As far as competing with them, it’s moot point now. My auction code kept getting hacked, other free auction sites did a better job… but not one of them is secure or has HUGE traffic like PA. The others are mildy helpful for getting sales.

I can sell my game accounts in a scam hole forum for $200 each, sell them to a corporate greed site for half that, or I can sell them on PlayerAuctions for $300+. The security and heavy traffic means I sell for more.

I gotta call it like it is. The age of player to player trade is now, and the corporate greed sites are going to take a serious hit. They can’t compete because players deliver faster, speak English better, and both buy and sell at better prices. BUY-ing a game account at any other site would be ridiculous, you either pay twice what it’s worth, or it gets recalled later on with zero protection.

I got my start at PlayerAuctions and in RMT, it put me through college and changed mylife for the better. Then I got banned by the old management and started a website. Now I have the benefits of both. I never got work in my career field because RMT was way better for me.

Regular joe gamers need this, they always have. Straight deals, good security, no corporate greed. Nobody else provides that. Well, there’s Livegamer, but that’s reeely limited. Only select servers for select SOE games.

I’ve heard that PlayerAuctions hack accounts.

    I think it’s true.

  5. PA power seller on 09 Mar 2009 at 6:40 am #

I’ve had an account active with PA since 2003 and had 100% positive feedback. Since a recent sale that went terribly wrong, I have no faith in the company. I found a buyer no problem, they took over 4 days to verify his payment, then after even making me fax my drivers license and more patient waiting; During this supposedly safe “verification process” my buyer lost interest and canceled. I’m moving on to better sites like mmobay.net where the customer service doesn’t treat you like crap and they don’t charge 15% final sale price cut! Also a warning to current power sellers on the site, their supposedly safe esgrow service is based out of Korea…A direct quote from PA website “The Itemmania website is currently only available to players in Korea due to Korean government regulations surrounding digital asset exchange.” So you can’t ever contact their customer support if you “lose” your assets. The whole scam of a website is fishy from the start, and I didn’t appreciate the way customer service dealt with my issue. BUYER AND SELL BEWARE!

I recently had a similar experiance. I have been a players auction patron for over 6 years. I have bought and sold on that site. Well i went to buy an account recently and they asked for ID verification, I send them a copy of my passport. They sent me an email back saying they couldnt verify my account information and banned my account. No further inquiry, I tried to contact them through customer support and the guy there was just a dick. I wont ever use PA again.

I bought a wow account from P.A. It worked ok for 43 days, then the email was changed on me and the only way i can get the password back was to send it to the old email which is the person that sold it, which is the person that took it back. Because when when you get a account you change the email and password you think thats all, its not, the person that sold the account gets a email from Blizzard that the email was changed. They can use this email to get the account back at anytime. And guss what players A. will then tell you after filling out there long Q. sheet that they would like to help you but they cant at this time. I gave them proof throw the email that was his on wow that the new password has to go to and they could check it out also which is the same email he gave to them also at players. Guss what no reply!!! from players. Unless you trust the buyer or no them your taking a big chance.

I am a member in the PA. My transaction volume is less and less.
I think the main reason is that the market department is very poor and not professional. The number of PA buyers is little.
I feel the transaction is not safety on their web site and CS service is not professional.
I decide I won’t sell any goods any longer and I hope this company will be closen shortly.

    im trying to sell my account and i havnt a clue to what im doing, every site i find i see complaints about scams. can anyone help me???? :{

  11. Chris on 26 Aug 2010 at 3:18 am #

This is the WORST company ever due to their security procedure. One simple transaction took 2 days of hell, in which time they got me phoning my bank, mailing Paypal, then admitted the problem was their end. They validated me twice and then finally insisted (after a 1am call from an inaudible Indian callcentre) that I send them my passport!

Ever sent a goldseller a passport ! They then decided to delete my account for ‘Violation’. 3 or 4 hours of misery. Do NOT touch these guys. Ever.

  13. Rick on 03 Jul 2011 at 5:27 pm #

Throwing in my 2 cents and I never do this, but they are so bad at what they do I had to let others know. They used to be a pretty decent place, but the new owners will surely run it into the ground very soon. Their communications or even the ability to contact them is virtualy non-exsistant or slow ass hell to say the least. And when they do they write in some weird non sensical dialect only a displaced martian would understand. They are amatuers at what they do and they are by far the worst. Steer clear of these decietful fools, al they will do is waste your time.

What the fuck are you all on? PlayerAuctions is the best hands down.

  16. Unnamed on 26 Sep 2011 at 2:40 pm #

@Wes: I have no idea what they are on, their probably one of the bad apples that got scammed the shit out of them or are just jealous.

  17. Benny L on 18 Oct 2011 at 6:28 am #

PlayerAuctions is awful for buying an account

    - The verification process is extremely complex and difficult
    - The payment you send to them CANNOT be reversed
    - The seller can recall the product immediately after being paid

The only service I’d say to go with on PlayerAuctions is powerleveling as the leveler can’t get paid unless he does the job.
